AFR top 50 firm, an established and growing advisory-led accounting firm, is seeking an experienced Associate Director or Director to join its Business Services & Tax division in either the Brisbane inner city or western suburbs office.
This is a genuine leadership opportunity for a commercially minded professional who enjoys managing long-standing client relationships while contributing to the continued growth of a progressive firm.
The Opportunity:
You will take ownership of a well-established portfolio of legacy clients, many of whom have built trusted relationships with the firm over the course of decades. The focus is on maintaining service excellence, deepening advisory engagement, and continuing to strengthen those relationships.
Alongside portfolio management, you will play a key leadership role within the team — guiding workflow, mentoring senior accountants and managers, and ensuring technical standards remain high.
There is also scope to contribute to business development initiatives. While an existing fee base or strong BD track record is not essential, an interest in growing relationships and identifying opportunities to expand the firm’s presence in the market would be highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee a substantial portfolio of Business Services & Tax clients
- Provide high-level tax planning and strategic advisory services
- Review complex compliance work across companies, trusts, groups, and high-net-worth individuals
- Maintain and strengthen long-standing client relationships
- Lead and mentor a team of accountants and managers
- Support workflow management, quality control, and internal process improvement
- Contribute to business development and growth initiatives where appropriate
- Significant experience within Australian Public Practice (typically 8–10+ years), must have current Australian taxation and compliance experience.
- Must be CA, CPA or CTA qualified
- Strong technical expertise across tax and business advisory
- Proven experience managing client portfolios and leading teams
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted client relationships
- Commercial mindset with an interest in contributing to firm growth
- Business development experience is highly advantageous but not mandatory
- Established client base with strong, long-term relationships
- Leadership position within a respected and growing advisory firm
