Are you an experienced Commercial Collections Officer ready to take ownership of complex commercial accounts and drive real recovery outcomes? We’re looking for a confident, commercially minded collections professional to join our high-performing Credit & Risk team in Sydney.

This is not an entry-level position. You’ll bring proven experience in commercial collections, a solid understanding of litigation and recovery processes, and the ability to manage vendor relationships while protecting business performance.

About the Role
As a Commercial Collections Officer, your focus will be recovering overdue commercial financial contracts and minimising loss to the business. You’ll manage a dedicated vendor portfolio, negotiate payment solutions, and oversee recovery strategies from early arrears through to legal action where required.

Working in a fast-paced, results-driven environment, you’ll take end-to-end ownership of your accounts while ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal policy requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage account-level relationships with specific vendors
  • Oversee portfolio arrears management and delinquent accounts
  • Identify causes of arrears and negotiate appropriate resolutions
  • Case manage complex and extended default situations
  • Reconcile client accounts and resolve discrepancies
  • Lodge default listings with Equifax
  • Recommend and manage legal recovery action where necessary
  • Arrange repossession of financed assets
  • Work with third-party collection agencies and external solicitors
  • Conduct skip tracing and asset investigations
  • Handle disputes effectively and professionally
  • Ensure all activities meet compliance and regulatory standards
About You

You’re customer-focused but commercially astute. You understand the importance of balancing strong relationship management with firm recovery action. You’re comfortable managing difficult conversations and making sound decisions in complex situations.
Experience & Knowledge
  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a commercial collections environment
  • Knowledge of the Australian commercial asset finance industry
  • Understanding of litigation and loss recovery processes
  • Experience working with external solicitors and recovery agents
Skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven negotiation and dispute resolution capability
  • High attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Proactive, resilient, and solutions-focused
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
