The Role
An opportunity exists for a Knowledge Counsel to join the firm’s Knowledge & Markets function. This is a senior, non‑fee earning role that supports the legal practice by driving firm‑wide knowledge, learning and high‑quality legal content. Working closely with the Director of Markets and Knowledge and partners nationally, the role plays a central and influential position within the firm.
- Managing and developing employment law precedents and work product
- Researching legislative and regulatory developments and delivering internal knowledge updates
- Acting as a firm‑wide “go‑to” for employment law insights and guidance
- Owning and delivering a weekly employment law update for internal and client audiences
- Supporting internal learning initiatives and capability building
- Managing legal research tools, subscriptions and AI technology
- Producing and editing high‑quality market‑facing legal content in plain English
The Candidate
This role will suit an experienced employment lawyer seeking a long‑term, specialist knowledge role outside of fee earning. The ideal candidate will have:
- Approximately 6+ years’ post‑admission experience
- Strong background in employment, industrial relations and/or safety law
- Prior private practice experience
- Excellent drafting, communication and stakeholder management skills
- A proactive, organised and collaborative working style
- Genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for employment law
- Comfort influencing senior lawyers without formal authority
This role is not suited to candidates seeking partnership, management responsibility, or a return to fee earning.
