About the Role
people2people are seeking an experienced Paralegal to join a local government Legal Services team on a 4 month contract, commencing ASAP. This role is based in Ipswich and offers flexible working arrangements, including 2 days per week working from home. This position offers a unique opportunity to support senior legal professionals, including the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel. You will play a vital role in managing legal documentation, preparing reports, and facilitating communication within the legal team. You’ll work closely with in house lawyers and external legal providers in a professional and fast paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support workflow management within the team
- Provide clear, professional service to internal stakeholders
- Conduct legal and factual research
- Prepare reports
- Compile briefs and liaise with external counsel, law firms and expert witnesses
- Prepare and file legal documents, including affidavits, complaints, summonses, claims and other court/tribunal documents
- Handle minor legal matters and enquiries using established precedents
- Manage subpoenas, notices to produce and non party disclosure requests
- Manage procurement goods and services
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and provide recommendations for process improvements.
About You
- Demonstrated experience working as a Paralegal or in a similar legal support role
- Sound understanding of legal procedures, documentation and terminology
- Strong research, drafting and organisational skills
- Able to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines
- Previous experience in a local government or public sector setting is advantageous but not essential
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and manage multiple tasks.
