Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
We are seeking an  experienced Policy professional  to join our Investment and Strategy Group in a permanent, full-time position in Wellington. This is your chance to directly  shape the strategy and funding direction  for a crucial sector of Aotearoa's economy and workforce.
This high-impact role is complex and varied, giving you exposure across both:

  • Investment & Funding:  Drive advice on  funding levers and fee regulation  for national training and development systems. You will lead strategic Budget advice and funding changes supporting major workforce and economic reforms.
  • International Strategy & Welfare:  Develop strategic policy for  international growth  initiatives and lead work on the  welfare and support systems for domestic and international participants.
You'll need to thrive in a  fast-paced, high-pressure environment, working collaboratively across other core government agencies and Crown partners to provide integrated advice to Ministers.

Mōu | About you
You are a pragmatic, experienced policy professional with a passion for  ‘big picture’ economic and social analysis  and an ability to deliver high-quality work in complex, sensitive environments.
  • Policy Analyst:  You have excellent knowledge of  policy development  and government processes, sound communication skills, and a commitment to evidence-based advice. You have a willingness to develop your understanding of  Te Ao Māori  and  Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Senior Policy Analyst:  You possess all the above, plus proven experience in  leading complex policy projects  autonomously, demonstrating  resilience and self-motivation, and a desire to  mentor junior staff.
