An exciting Senior Associate opportunity for an experienced defendant insurance lawyer with strong property damage experience to join a highly regarded national practice and work on complex public liability and general insurance matters.

The Role
The firm is seeking a Senior Associate to join its insurance team in Sydney, working primarily across public liability and general insurance with a strong emphasis on complex property damage claims.
Key responsibilities include
  • Managing a busy and varied defendant insurance file load
  • Running complex property damage matters including multi party disputes
  • Advising insurers and insureds on liability, quantum and coverage issues
  • Drafting pleadings, advices and correspondence to a high standard
  • Appearing at mediations, settlement conferences and court as required
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key insurer and corporate clients
  • Collaborating with partners and colleagues nationally on significant matters and projects
  • Contributing to business development initiatives and thought leadership within the insurance space
You will work closely with experienced partners and senior practitioners who are recognised in the market for their expertise in property damage and public liability. There is genuine scope to deepen specialisation and develop a clear career pathway.

The Candidate
The successful candidate will be a defendant insurance practitioner who enjoys technically challenging work and building strong client relationships.
Requirements include
  • At least 4yrs PAE gained in defendant insurance
  • Solid experience in property damage and property liability matters
  • Experience in public liability and general insurance disputes
  • Construction related disputes experience will be viewed favourably, particularly where it involves property damage issues
  • Proven ability to manage files autonomously while working collaboratively within a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a client focused approach
  • Sound commercial judgment and a practical, solutions focused mindset
  • A commitment to quality, efficiency and building long term client relationships
