The team sits within thepolicy group and leads and coordinates all education Bills progressing through Parliament, along with governance and accountability policy across the system. The team has a strong regulatory policy focus and works closely with other policy teams across a variety of portfolios.This contract role has been created due to an unwell team member. It is a senior-level contractor position through to end of June (with potential extension, though not currently approved). The role will lead two significant workstreams: (1) drafting a Cabinet paper and progressing amendments to planning and reporting regulations, and (2) leading advice to the Minister on mechanisms to resolve serious disputes across the sectors. The first workstream requires pace and delivery to tight deadlines (regulations made by June), while the second involves more analytical, early-stage policy design.This is a hands-on role requiring strong regulatory experience, sound judgement, and the ability to operate confidently in complex legislative environments, including engagement with legal advisers, operational teams and Mฤori partners.
