We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Advisor for a 10-week contract in central Wellington to manage a complex portfolio of appointments.

We are partnering with a central government ministry to find a seasoned professional to cover a critical function. This role places you at the heart of decision-making, ensuring robust and effective governance for entities that have a direct impact on the public. Your work will be crucial in progressing up to eight separate appointment processes for significant Crown entities.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing expert advice for Ministers on appointment processes.
- Providing high-level support to interview panels.
- Drafting comprehensive and high-quality appointment papers for Cabinet.
- Driving multiple appointment processes forward to meet critical deadlines.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- A proven track record in managing board appointment processes, ideally within or for large government entities.
- A sophisticated understanding of governance capabilities and the use of board skills matrices.
- Familiarity with the potential pool of candidates for board positions, particularly outside of government circles.
- Exceptional written communication skills, with specific experience in preparing appointments papers for Cabinet.
- Superb interpersonal and relationship management abilities.
