Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
 
This is a multi-faceted permanent role where your work directly impacts safety and environmental integrity. You will combine the ability to interpret and apply technical regulatory frameworks with engaging a wide range of stakeholders. Using a risk-based regulatory approach, you will assess applications for operational licences, ensuring applicants meet the necessary skills and experience for safe operation. This role holds delegated authority for issuing documents based on legally robust decision-making principles. 

Mōu | About you
 
You are a sharp, detail-focused professional (Advisor level) with critical thinking skills. You have some previous experience with and excel at interpreting legislation and applying regulatory or risk frameworks in a decision-making context. You have strong interpersonal skills, allowing you to clearly communicate complex requirements to a diverse range of applicants.

  • Experience (ideally 12-18+ months) applying regulatory or risk frameworks in a decision-making context, assessing applications. 
  • Relevant background could include: assessing applications for identity documents, for regulatory licensing such as firearms or alcohol licences, police vetting, or assessing insurance claims. 
  • Strong process adherence and exceptional attention to detail. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, confident, calm, and collected. 
  • Experience in the public sector is helpful, but private sector skills are highly valued.
