The Role
An opportunity has arisen for an Associate-level Employment Lawyer to join the firm's expanding employment and commercial practice. The role involves acting primarily for employers on a broad spectrum of workplace relations matters, with scope to work on commercial contracts and advisory projects.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising on award interpretation, contracts, restructures, dismissals, and workplace compliance
  • Managing employment disputes, unfair dismissal, and general protections matters
  • Conducting and supporting investigations into misconduct, bullying, WHS, and related issues
  • Drafting employment agreements, contractor terms, restraints, and workplace policies
  • Delivering client training on HR compliance and workplace best practice
  • Supporting commercial advisory work including shareholder agreements and structuring
  • Building strong relationships with clients through strategic, practical advice
  • Contributing to team knowledge and firm-wide development initiatives
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
  • 3–5 years' post-admission experience in employment and workplace relations law
  • A NSW practising certificate in good standing
  • Demonstrated experience advising employers on day-to-day HR and compliance matters
  • Excellent drafting, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Confidence in dealing with clients and appearing before the Fair Work Commission (advocacy experience is a plus)
Desirable attributes include:
  • Exposure to commercial contracts and general advisory work
  • Familiarity with privacy law, whistleblower protections, or modern slavery compliance
  • Industry experience in retail, hospitality, or franchising
  • A strong professional network or demonstrated business development potential
