The Organisation
Justice Connect exists to make legal support accessible to all. They design and deliver high-impact programs that connect people and community organisations with free legal help, while driving systemic reform to create fairer laws and a more just society.
With offices in Sydney and Melbourne, Justice Connect is a respected, innovative not-for-profit known for its collaborative culture, digital innovation, and commitment to human-centred design. Their Specialist Legal Programs team leads two nationally recognised initiatives:

  • Seniors Law: pioneering health-justice partnerships to prevent and respond to elder abuse.
  • Self-Representation Law: supporting people navigating complex courts and tribunals, including through the Domestic Building Legal Service, Federal Self-Representation Service, and Victorian Self-Representation Service.

The Role
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Head of Self Representation and Elder Law will provide strategic and operational leadership across both programs, ensuring they remain high-quality, accessible, and scalable. This is a pivotal executive role that combines vision, innovation and hands-on service delivery leadership. You will shape the future direction of these nationally recognised programs while empowering a capable and passionate team.

Key accountabilities include:
  • Setting strategic direction and driving innovation in program design and delivery.
  • Strengthening partnerships across health, aged care, justice, and community sectors.
  • Embedding digital transformation, data-driven insights, and lived experience into service delivery.
  • Leading through change with empathy, accountability, and a focus on performance and wellbeing.
  • Managing budgets, funding, and risk in a resource-conscious environment.
  • Contributing to Justice Connect’s executive leadership team and reform agenda.

About You
You are a collaborative, forward-thinking leader who balances empathy with accountability. You bring both strategic and practical experience in legal or community service delivery, with a strong understanding of how innovation and people leadership intersect.

Key attributes include:
  • Proven leadership in program design, delivery, and evaluation, ideally across legal, community or justice settings.
  • A law degree and eligibility to practise in Australia(including a minimum of 5yrs PAE, ideally in civil justice, elder law, or community legal practice).
  • Demonstrated experience leading managers or senior professionals.
  • A track record of introducing new ideas, systems, or digital tools to improve outcomes.
  • Ability to lead through change, balancing wellbeing, culture, and performance.
  • Experience working within tight budgets and smaller teams, bringing creativity and discipline to achieve results.
  • Alignment with Justice Connect’s mission of access to justice and social impact.
What’s on Offer
  • Permanent part-time leadership role (0.8 FTE, 30 hrs/week – flexible spread) OR full-time option available.
  • $150k base salary + 17.5% leave loading + 12% superannuation.
  • Hybrid model, approximately 40% in office each month (Sydney or Melbourne).
