  • Seniors Law: pioneering health-justice partnerships that prevent and respond to elder abuse.
  • Self-Representation Law: helping people navigate complex courts and tribunals, including through the Domestic Building Legal Service and the Federal and Victorian Self-Representation Services.

The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Head of Self-Representation and Seniors Law provides strategic and operational leadership across the two programs. This is a pivotal executive role that blends strategic vision, service delivery leadership, and people development. You will shape the next phase of these nationally recognised programs while leading a capable and passionate team through a period of growth and renewal.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Set strategic direction, embedding innovation and evidence-based service design.
  • Strengthen cross-sector partnerships spanning health, aged care, justice, and community services.
  • Lead a cultural reset focused on engagement, accountability, and performance.
  • Empower and mentor two experienced program managers (each leading established legal teams).
  • Embed human-centred design, digital transformation, and lived experience into program delivery.
  • Oversee budgets, funding, risk, and reporting in a resource-conscious environment.
  • Contribute to Justice Connect’s executive leadership team and reform agenda.

About You
You are a strategic, people-centred leader who balances empathy with performance. You bring both vision and operational discipline, with a genuine passion for access to justice and social impact.
Key attributes include:
  • A law degree and 5+ PAE in Australia (essential).
  • 5+ years' proven leadership experience in program or service delivery (essential).
  • Experience leading managers or senior professionals within legal, justice, or community settings (essential).
  • Demonstrated success driving innovation, process improvement, or digital transformation.
  • Skilled at leading through change or restructure, bringing clarity and stability to teams.
  • Ability to manage budgets, funding relationships, and compliance frameworks.
  • Authentic leadership style grounded in collaboration, inclusion, and accountability.
What’s on Offer
  • Permanent role: part-time (0.8 FTE / 30 hrs per week) OR full-time.
  • Salary up to $160K + 12% super + 17.5% leave loading (FTE), plus salary packaging benefits (up to $18,550).
  • Hybrid model: approx. 40% in-office each month (Sydney or Melbourne).
  • Meaningful leadership: shape programs making a tangible national impact.
  • Generous leave entitlements: 5 weeks’ annual leave, cultural leave, and additional Christmas leave.
  • Collaborative and values-driven executive team committed to wellbeing and inclusion.
