2. The Role
The Legal Counsel will act as the sole legal advisor for the APAC region, supporting seven offices across Australasia. Reporting directly to the UK Legal Director, the role involves:
- Reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts between the company and flight operators, as well as client agreements
- Managing legal risk and compliance across multiple jurisdictions
- Collaborating closely with the UK legal team to implement global strategy locally
- Providing practical, business-focused legal advice in a fast-paced environment
- Supporting the business as clients engage with flight booking requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Legal qualifications in NSW and China (China practising certificate can be reactivated)
- Native or fluent English and Mandarin language skills
- Ability to operate independently as sole counsel
- Strong commercial contract experience; aviation industry exposure is advantageous but not essential
- Flexibility to work extended hours to accommodate UK time zones
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Base salary: AUD $130,000 to $140,000 (potential flexibility up to $150,000 for the right candidate)
