Looking for a new job opportunity in the New Year? Get ahead of the game while you're enjoying your Christmas break with these quick and easy tips to get your job hunt started before the January rush.

  • Research the market.

  • Update your LinkedIn profile.

  • Get connecting on LinkedIn.

  • Update your Twitter account.

  • Start following potential employees on Twitter.

  • Update your resume.

  • Create a cover letter (don't forget to adapt this to every application).

  • Be proactive and call your recruiters (we are still here working over the Christmas/New Year period).

  • Perform job board searches.

  • Get applying!
